Archway Programs Celebrates the 2024 Summer Olympics

August 19, 2024

On Friday, August 9th, Archway Programs celebrated the Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Archway Summer Olympics featuring Archway Upper School, Lower School, and Cooper’s Poynt athletes. Each school was filled with fanfare and excitement as the teams paraded through their respective all-purpose rooms wearing their team colors and logos. Mr. John, the Lower School Principal, and Mr. Mark, the Upper School Principal, both delivered encouraging speeches, finishing with the promise of everyone to adhere to the rules of the game.

On Monday, the Archway Summer Olympics began with students from Upper, Lower, and Cooper’s Poynt competing in Track and Field Day games at the Upper School field. The students participated in relay races, shot put competitions, and a diving competition at the Lower School pool. We are proud of all our student-athletes for working hard, doing their best, and competing fairly.

Tuesday’s games started with several new competitions. Students participated in an obstacle course, a Fireman Relay, and Egg and Spoon races. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the competition and played with honor, cheering on their teammates and opponents alike.

The games concluded on Wednesday with the indoor games. Athletes competed in Basketball, Bowling, Curling, and a Paper Airplane competition measuring distance and hang time. Upper School staff offered all students face painting for an added dose of creative fun.

Thursday was award day! Archway staff and students gathered in front of the Archway Administration building to celebrate our gold, silver, and bronze medal athletes. Teams and individual athletes were awarded their medals. It was a day of celebration and pride as we honored our athletes’ hard work and perseverance.

Mr. John, Lower School Principal, presented the awards with the help of Miss Monica, Lower School Special Education Coordinator; Kelly Lambert, Upper School Lead Teacher/Testing Coordinator. Susan Lafferty, Executive Director of Education, and Shawn Gibson, COO/Vice President, attended and participated in the celebration.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Archway Family for their support and contributions to the games and award ceremony preparations. Your efforts, from Archway Special Services to the Teaching Staff and Maintenance, were instrumental in making this event successful.
