Positive Encounters

Mission Statement

The Human Services Department of Archway Programs sees its Mission as helping others to help themselves.

Vision Statement

The Human Services Department of Archway Programs has a Vision of being recognized throughout Southern New Jersey for its community involvement problem-solving capabilities, individualized quality care and accessibility to services for those in need.

Positive Encounters is comprised of a team that coordinates weekly age-appropriate activities focusing on personal accountability, problem solving, pre-vocational skills, team building and leadership skills.  The planned activities are designed to provide recreation while at the same time enhance self-esteem and socialization skills.

This community based program has a dual objective: to motivate DCP&P foster family youth, ages 8-17, residing in Camden County, to become active in their community and to provide respite for the foster parents/guardians.

The program takes place in a wide array of community settings including our beautiful campus in Atco, NJ, amusement parks, museums, nature centers, senior housing complexes, bowling alleys, movie theatres and restaurants. The Positive Encounters program has been providing respite service to foster parents for over 9 years.
