Our social enterprise, Blue Violet Flowers and Gifts, brightened a lot of peoples day in the Atco community by “petaling” it forward last month. Staff, students and volunteers spread kindness by giving people in the community two bouquets – one to keep for themselves, and another to give to a complete stranger. Here’s a video of one of our adult clients handing out a bouquet (and doing an excellent job) as she explained the #PetalItForward campaign.

The Society of American Florist (SAF) started this nationwide campaign, #PetalItForward, as a way to pay it forward and spread the joy of both giving and receiving flowers. This year the campaign took place on October 23, 2019. Approximately 650 floral teams in all 50 states plus Canada, Colombia, and Puerto Rico surprised people in their local communities with two free bouquets each — one to keep and one to share — one to keep, and one to share with a friend, family member, co-worker, or even a complete stranger. As you can imagine, there were a lot of smiles going around that day!
